Scars

Will you still love me?
When you see my scars.
I hope you do.
Because they will only be memories in the future.
They will be a reminder of my past.
Of how I struggled so much.
& wanted to feel something again.
But honey- they will be scars.
Not fresh stinging marks on my body.
They won't bleed or open up.
They will be scars.
I think they're beautiful, I hope you don't hate them.
They show that things get better.
The numbness I went through.
Please don't turn away.
When you see my scars.
They're my past.
Not my future- when I'm with you.
They were from when I wasn't strong enough.
To fight off my demons.
It takes all the courage and pain in the world.
To take something sharp to your beautiful skin.
Honey, they're scars.
Please still love me.
