Basketcase

by Edward Oropeza   Jun 1, 2013

Carry me
down to the aisle,
with hopes crawling..
tears spawning,

Look at me
disfigured by shame,
plagued by sores...
embroidered misfit,

Tease me
Laugh at me
beat me
defenseless and a prey,

Don't wake me
I am dreaming,
I have my whole being
Running and kicking back
catching punches...,

Someday
in my grave,

I will regret,
those people....

whom i shed my blood,

is the people
who buried me in shame...

There are some really deep images in here. The ending in particular of being buried in shame, it is so powerful and I think everyone at some point in their lives will relate to this and feel this amount of shame.

I like the layout of it and the mystery in the beginning of where you are going to take this poem.

I also think your title is very fitting and eye catching, it is something that is used often in speech but not so much in poetry.

    Well done.
