My letter to you

I was nine and you were seven
You were the first to say hello
I was shy so i wrote you a letter
Then told you i had to go

Within a week, we met again
I felt something that i never did
You asked me if i would be your friend
I promised you that our friendship would never end

A few years passed, and our relationship grew
When everyone saw me, they'd see you too
I felt complete whenever we were together
I'd do anything to make it last forever

It took ten more years
For me to finally see
That i was the man for you
And you were the woman for me

So i grabbed you by the hand
Then i got down on one knee
I told you how much i loved you
Then asked you to marry me

A year later God sent us an Angel
She changed both of our lives
I didn't cry ever since the wedding
Until my baby stared into my eyes

A few minutes went by as usual
But then everything in this world seemed to stop
The alarms went off all around me
Then i realized my wives heart rate began to drop

the doctors tried to grab me
And told me that i had to leave
As my wife laid there lifeless
i begged God to please take me

On the day my baby was born
The love of my life was gone
A nurse came in to comfort me
And handed me a letter that was slightly torn

I read the little letter
Which had even smaller words just scribbled on
It said that "one day we will be together"
And then "maybe we'll be even more"

That was the letter i wrote her
When i was nine and she was seven
I guess back then i didn't realize
A few years later she'd be in heaven.
