Three Words, Three Tears

by Daylight Lucidity   Jun 9, 2013

Have you ever felt like you shouldn't feel the way you do?
Like you weren't good enough so you shouldn't care so much
Apologizing after every indication of how much you do
Trying not to say the words under every soft touch.
So soon could lead to destruction, but too late could lead to wishes
That you said it when you wanted. Your heart pounds hard and uneasy
Those three "famous" words on the tip of your tongue, itching
To say what's been on your mind, eating away at you, causing feelings
You have yet to fully understand, leaving you wary
To say anything. Might you have been hurt before,
You're afraid that those three words will bring three tears
That will bury the pieces of a broken heart which you wish was adored.
Only a person worthy of giving your heart to can love you the way you need
Are you sure, completely, that they are who you desire
To cradle, protect, treasure and kiss the most valuable part of you?
Because your heart isn't a toy; it's a prize to be acquired.

Three words, three tears
These hopes, these fears.
My heart squeezes ever so slightly
Whenever I think I can say it
But my words turn to air, taking the breath out of me
When I try to say those three words. So simple, yet so scary.
Love isn't an easy thing to comprehend.

I don't understand why there are no comments here yet, this piece is excellent. Though I have to say the second bit is my favorite. Its very well written, with massive emotion and skill. Thevflow is interesting and the style is nice. I like the word choice and how it doesn't feel like it was polished timevand time again, raw rough poems are sometimes the best there are.

    Great job
