Heres to Me

by Samuel Ernst   Jun 10, 2013

You once said you'd always have my back,
So what happened to that?
Now, I sit at our favorite bar alone,
Dealing with life all on my own,
Drinking away memories of the way it was,
Back in the day when it was the two of us,

Getting drunk and ducking the law,
Seeing perfection in our every flaw,
Getting high and stealing your moms ride,
Whipping in and out of traffic with luck on our side,
Boys down to die till the end of time,
As long as it was us we could always be fine,

Now what do I do now that your not here?
How on earth am I supposed to face my fear?
You made your way, leaving me behind,
Stuck in darkness with no light to find,
If you came back I would forgive you,
Buy you shot and salute you,

But until that day, well....
Here's to me!

I'm sorry if this is true, and I hope you're able to cope with it. Sometimes I feel as though when someone leave us we often feel ourselves at certain places we developed memories with them, so I find the bar to be quite fitting here in that aspect, it reminds you of what you had yet making you upset about it at the same time. I can see you wanting to forget about everything yet at the same time willing to give a second chance & forgive for what they've done. Sometimes we have to feel selfish though to get over the immediate hurt we feel. Like I said I hope you aren't going through this but in case you are I hope everything gets better soon!
