Rain on the Roof

by Daylight Lucidity   Jun 10, 2013

The pitter patter of the rain on the roof
Soothes my quaking soul
Lulling me into a state of being, in truth,
That makes me feel somewhat whole.
Broken down night after night,
A frigid bed in which I lay,
Wishing that there was someone there despite
All the reserved words I always say.
Thunder claps in the distance, lightning brightening my room,
Illuminating the tears that silently drown my eyes
As I hope that the rain decides to stay and walk on the roof
Instead of leaving me alone to fabricate another disguise.
Beauty in each and every drop decorates my window
And paints a lovely description of the storm
Allowing me to properly adore the gift that billows
Around my innocent little home.
I open my window and smell the breath of fresh rain
And smile faintly at the glimmering grass
Falling deeper in love as I lean on the window pane
I am at ease at long last.
