The Purpose of Possibilities; Merry-go-round

by Fulcrous   Jun 10, 2013

On the day of first contact,
you saw something fall from the sky,
Wondering what it was
crumbling before your very eyes?
Our efforts and hopes for promise
are left in vain.

Trapped in a closed passage of time,
where I'm sure my voice
That continues to scream for understanding
won't reach anyone but myself.
Is happiness to be found in the future
that is grasped with cold and blood-stained hands?

I've locked them away,
The distant memories
I once held dear,
Dashed off with the revolving past.

Death smiles at us all
upon this planet of sorrow,
Amidst the swirl of rubble,
an everlasting love grows
The dripping tears illuminate the way to the future
All we can do is smile back
silently riding the merry-go-round

Rays of light dance
amidst the darkness of the past.
Painting a promising prologue
yet we continue to taint
The future we all hold dear
have we any hope?

I'm like this, useless,
broken by the past
But you said you needed me,
it was the first time
I felt the warmth of humanity,
the power to transcend the now

Everlasting love in an encounter brimming in sorrow,
amidst the swirls of grief,
The dripping tears seize the wishes of the past
Circling the past and future
merry go round

For what and for whom do we encounter loneliness?
After saying thousands of hellos
and unforgettable goodbyes
Every parting gives a foretaste of death,
every reunion a hint of resurrection.

Don't hide your wings
believe in the future engraved on your back
Don't lock away the distant memories
eternally dashed off with the revolving past

Upon this planet of sorrow,
I wish for an ever-lasting love
Let the endless waltz
three beats long
War, peace, and revolution
come to an end

Believe in the possibilities we don't know about
we can accomplish what we didn't dream to ever be possible.
