They Didn't Notice

by schmetterling   Jun 12, 2013

Her smile was once so bright.
It shined through all the death and anguish.
She was like a star,
Glowing throughout the night.
She provided light to everyone else.
She made then feel like they were worth something.

Didn't anyone notice?
When her smile began to fade.
When she started to spend more time alone,
Her head deep in her notebook.
Didn't they see?
The blank expression on her face that became more and more common.

Her light she had soon faded,
Turning into eternal darkness.
She couldn't help anyone anymore,
Because she was trying to save herself.
No one noticed,
That a monster was consuming her.
The demons possessing her mind.
She couldn't break free.

Where did she go?
What happened to the girl whose smile brought everyone safety?
She's gone.
She is another lost soul,
To a terrible fate.
She couldn't save herself,
But no one tried to help.
They didn't notice.
