Time to embark

As I look forward ahead of me
all I see is dark uncertainty
and a future I can't quite read,
will it bring me untold happiness?
Or will it only bring me pain?

Taking a breath I try to focus,
panicking now won't solve a thing,
I'm standing at the precipice
of everything I've fought to reach,
time to take that step of faith.

Twinges of fear try to hinder me,
am I really strong enough for this?
Will I reach the stars and all my dreams
or will I slip and fall
and just be another lost hope.

Counting days and counting minutes,
impatient to finally embark,
ready for another adventure,
this one the grandest yet,
as I chase the end of the rainbow.

Ready to carry a bag full of memories
to remind me of where I'm from,
a book with pictures of my future
and a notebook to follow the way,
ready to board that plane.

Close my eyes, say goodbye,
to the life that I've been living,
open them and be in new lands,
full of people and unwritten pages,
I'm the author of this coming chapter.
