Feelings can betray you
Unusual tendencies
Seem to fall through

There's relief in this razor
My heart no longer aches
Love is merely an indicator
That this is my only escape

Time slips by unnoticed
I'm numb as the blood falls to the floor
This is what love has done to me
I can't live like this anymore

I send you one last message
Two words, "Goodbye, love"
I grab my note and test this
uneasy shake in my hand

I write a quick note to my family
"I'm sorry, I must run away,
The pain is just too much,
And it seems it's here to stay."

I leave it on the counter
Grab my razor and walk out
Love and pain shrouded
By the scars that are too many to count.
