The Girl Who Just Wanted To Stay

by McKenzie Pratt   Jun 15, 2013

The moon is full and the night is just beginning
And the wolves come out of their dens to play
The mournful memories of the past fade away
As the new night is welcomed

The sable wings of the crow shimmer
As he stands upon the grave
Of the little girl who just wanted to stay

But we cannot reminisce;
We cannot show fear
For if we do
Our demise will be near

The stars are visible in the sky tonight
Each leaving a mark in its own unique fashion
The wind screams through the trees
Haunting those who remember

I will not remember;
I forbid

The black cat stalks the night with eyes glowing vividly
A dull yellow
And it remembers

But I cannot
I cannot afford to remember

A howling is heard from over the hills
The animals are lively and full of thrills

They mustn't worry
They try to forget
What it was like if she had never been

But they have to remember;
They have no choice

And the night fades away,
Leaving its beautiful remarks

The dawn is rising up over the exuberant horizon
Bringing new light to the world
Spreading joy and acceptance throughout the earth

But not for me,
For now I remember
Of the little girl who just wanted to stay
