The Raven's Moon

by Daylight Lucidity   Jun 20, 2013

I watch it soar
Across ebony skies
Shining in the moonlight
Amongst twinkling stars.
Breathtaking,
Majestic,
Its beauty overwhelming
Its voice amazing.
My heart is on its back,
I wish I could join
Its peaceful retreat
And night's delicate state it adjoins.
My wings aren't real
But my soul does fly
With a sense of appeal
As I dream with a sigh.
The raven's moon
Is neither a dull orange nor white
But red as to assume
Bloody; roses paint it benighted.
I stay up for hours
Admiring its delightful presence
As it perches outside my window
Waiting for its evanescent
Depart into the new day.
