There is no surrender.

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 21, 2013

You have your face roughly
in the palms of your hands,
while you wish to run you know
it's half past midnight
and this town is not
safe for
hopeless
dreamers.

The few nightlights you own
burn out. The pillow that lays
vigilantly has turned its back.
Your legs are feeling numb
but your mind says stay awake,
sleep does not need
your love.

Step back-
someone is reminding the night
that shadows aren't donated
statues,

and each star is a sign,
daylight is approaching.

Um so this is amazing! There is so much depth here that I am just lost, but in a good way! My brain doesn't have the capacity right now to leave a beautifully detailed and eloquent comment so all I will say is...WOW.

MA. I am always at a loss for words at how you can write these really amazing pieces so early in the morning, but I see the addition to the fact that you are awake in them...such as here, talking about daylight...

There is such gentleness in this piece though, it's almost like this piece was written with calmness, like the thoughts were not hurried with the moment, you know. Yet there was a little defeated feeling, in this, like you spend so long dreaming but never actually fulfil dreams.

I really loved this piece...as always, you write beautifully and this is no exception
