Glass

by SimIsSeiko   Jun 23, 2013

I feel like glass,
fragile and see through
Broken and cracked,
Used up and thrown out
Destroyed on the grass.

A shallow reminder
Of what I could have been.
A transparent fool.
Who loved till the end.

I'm shattered and discarded
Forgotten, abused
Wishfully thinking
Of being brand new

I remember the times
When I was still loved
And the days when
I had a place in your heart

And then my cracks
Started showing through
It was fractures that ended my world
So now I'm stuck here on the grass,
Recalling times,
When things were good
When I wasn't used and abused
And somebody somewhere loved me

But to my shame, I can't go back
Back to a better time,
Back to the past.

This poem is great because you describe glass so well. You used a metaphor so very well and your words are flawless. Sometimes the past leaves us shattered and no one wants to pick up the peices.

      James,
thank you, i really hate it when i break a glass or plate, i feel like im playing executioner! sometimes i even think that one day, i might be that glass, and somebody else the one who dropped it
