The Mind of a Child

by Stephanie   Jun 26, 2013

How grand the mind of a child is to me
The mind is open, its shutters flutter wide,
Beckoning the winds of knowledge to come inside

Princesses, Knights, Doctors, and Vets
Visions of who they haven't become yet
Eyes full of wonder, hearts full of innocence

The first scratches on scrap paper,
To writing words much later
How fast they grow!
They shed their childhood the more their minds know

Perhaps we lose ourselves along the way
The true child left behind could really be you

We can all learn from the mind of a child
For they believe in their dreams
Even when the world is not always as it seems

How grand the mind of a child is to me
That they can become anything they dream to be

Beautiful and inspirational poem! I agree that the mind of a child is truly a wonderful sight to see and is a miracle in my eyes... I know we can see ourselves in children sometimes, especially through their innocence, curiosity, and wonder at ordinary things taken for granted.

Great poem, if we can keep our dreams with us and still work toward what we vision, setting goals for ourselves, we can accomplish all that we dreamed of.

    Keep writing :]
