Wonder at a rose

by Xandra   Jun 28, 2013

Oh little rose so sweet and red, do you suffer as you fall?
Is it better to have lived and died than never to have lived at all?
Do you wither slowly, or freeze quickly with first frost?
Do you bud again with spring, or do you simply die off?
Oh little rose so sweet and red do you dream of something more?
Or are you content as you are, having nothing left in store?
Is it the sun you desire, to be bathed in love and light?
With petals stretching outwards
lifted oh so high
Can you hear the birds sing, their songs rising with the dawn
It must be this you miss most when dreadful winter comes
Oh little rose so sweet and red, do you suffer as you fall?
Is it better to have lived and died than never to have lived at all?

I love this poem as well. It truly tells a story of one thing but that is so beautiful. A rose is beauty. I love the metaphor or what could be of a person who wants to bloom to life but wilts and dies. Is it netter to have lived? Yes I think so. We all want to live simply to be happy. The tranquil feeling of this feeling is great. I canjust iimagine looking at a flower and enjoying the beauty of it. I can heat the birds chirping. The imagery is so great. 5
