The Shy Little Girl

by Dictionary   Jul 2, 2004

*This is a short story versos*

A shy little girl walks by an empty classroom,
She sees her life pass before her.
A shy adult, afraid of life, afraid of her own reflection.

As she looks deep into the mirror,
All she sees is her empty heart.
A girl that has been lost since that day in the classroom.

Even though she is only in elementary,
Her life is decided on the first day.
She awakens to the real world,
Realizing her grip tightened on a locket she has never seen before.

When she looks in the locket she finds a cross.
Days upon days go by as the young girl ponders what it means.
One day, passing a church she realizes her destiny.
There is a perfect place for that shy little darling.

Almost twenty years later,
Long after graduation,
The young girl is found with the cross and locket in hand.

That little girl now passes on the locket to another shy child.
But she is not a little girl anymore.
She is the Head Nun at the church she passed the day realized what the cross truly meant.

Though she is still shy she is no longer afraid.
And now she has inspired another shy soul to return to where they originated.
God is their destiny now,
And they have returned to him.
