Flourishing Petals

When I saw your beautiful smile
on the day that we first met, I
instantly felt my heart smiling back
with a powerful surge of love.

You embraced me in your gentle arms,
whispering motivation into my ears
and knitting strength into my soul.

Your words of wisdom echo
inside the petals of my heart,
and I know that I will flourish soon,
becoming all that you wish I was.

I feel your hopes and dreams for me,
the desire to see me fly, the need to
see me happy and to know that I am free.

But with your love you are rescuing me,
healing my scars until they disappear
beneath my skin. Never to be seen again.

With every gaze into your smiling eyes,
I am reminded of the sparkle that
you patiently wait to see.

And that is why I carry on fighting,
because I know that you believe in me.

    As you have told me before that most of your poems are about your Mum, I assume that this is one of those, and it certainly is a beauty. <3

    The first two stanzas remind me of that mother and babies first chance to bond. Her holding you, snuggling you within a blanket and cooing beautiful words into your ears.

    I love the metaphor with the petals... how you are flourishing with each word of encouragement... how she planted you and tended to you until you were a beautiful flower.

    Such a beautiful poem written about this person who has not only come as a beacon of light in your life, but also a friend who will try to understand, and never give up on you even if you doubt yourself.

    Encouraging and brimming with inspiration!
    These two lines made me smile a lot as I love how you worded them, a person like is truly heaven-sent, especially how they bring out your spirit, not ever tearing it down:

    "whispering motivation into my ears
    and knitting strength into my soul."

    - That is the way to live! Keep fighting for strength and be around people who will walk with you each step of the way, even if it may be slow or at your own pace.
