Goodbye my friend <3

by Kazza   Jul 9, 2013

I jumped, you caught me.
I laughed, you joked.
I was down, you picked me up.
I crumbled, you glued me back together.
I loved you, you loved me back.

You jumped, I couldn't catch you.
You forgot to laugh, I couldn't remind you.
You were down, I couldn't hold you.
You crumbled, I had no glue.
You loved me, I still love you.

Without no warning or sign,
You ventured to a world divine.
I refused to say goodbye,
Yet tonight I cry.
My tears are for you my friend,
But our legacy will not end.
For I shall see you soon,
But first I have living to do.
I promise I won't forget,
Your face is embedded in my heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but in writing this you have such emotion that made me smile and touched my heart. Losing someone is never easy, it takes time to accept, but if we remember we are not alone we can keep going.

I thought it was unique how you kept the "format" of the first stanza in the second and switched it around. It is like as much as you were there by his/her side, he/she turned away and kept to a certain side of darkness, maybe depression even. He/she was always there for you and succeeded in bringing happiness, but it seems like it was deeper than just saying encouraging words....he/she may have refused love of their own self but you still loved he/she through it all.

Beautiful, soulful poem expressing this person's legacy in your life and how you will live life with these memories of your true companion.

    Keep writing!
