Recovery

by schmetterling   Jul 9, 2013

They saw them
They saw my cuts
I was terrified.
How can you go from
Smiling and laughing one moment
To
Your heart racing and shaking
In the next?
The amount of anxiety
That YOUR SECRET IS OUT
And they know now.
It's time for recovery
Time to feel better
Time to be stronger.
It's a long road
It already has been
I'm ready though
Ready to get better
Ready to heal.
Embracing the scars placed upon my body
But still being glad
That they're scars
And not cuts anymore.
In my mind
I will always want that feeling back
Less and less
As time goes by
But I won't go back to it
I will win this battle.
I'm not giving in anymore
I am stronger than this addiction
That tries to ruin me
And hurts everyone who loves me.
I will beat self-inflicted violence.
I will recover.

I know the anxiety you described in this poem all to well.. the shaking the racing..yea sounds about right. ...for when they first see ur cuts.... but I like...no love the concept of this poem. ..recover...its empowering...to even want it is a success....stay strong ...And keep penning
