New Dawn

by You Can Speak But I Can Rhyme   Jul 12, 2013

A thousand days, A thousand nights,
Without a will, without a fight,
I waited still. What could it be?
Was I waiting for my destiny?

A thousand days, A thousand nights,
Waiting for storms to flee and subside,
With never a sigh, just the will to die,
Watching the world and life go by.

A thousand days, A thousand nights,
Bade me arise and not lose sight,
Of dreams and love and earnestness,
I did not heed. I just cared less!

But after a thousand days and nights,
My soulless eyes were blessed with sight,
And then I woke and I could see,
What was I and What I should be!

I saw -

A drowning ant on a floating leaf,
An unbroken rock in a broken reef,
Salmons swimming up the stream,
In a pitch black mine a diamond's gleam.

A fly escapes from a spider's grasp,
An earthen home of a humble wasp,
A day of fragrance of a lily white,
A dying candle in the dying night,

A pearl is but a grain of sand,
The bee, it works but has no hands,
A puny mouse can climb a wall,
A cat springs up despite a fall,

An earthworm toils to till the soil,
A peanut dry, it has lots of oil,
A dog to love does need no heart,
Where a river ends, an ocean starts.

Now a thousand days and nights've passed,
And I've learnt to see the purpose at last,
So now I know what must be done,
The true journey of my life's begun!
