Magic Blankets

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 13, 2013

We each have a blanket,
hand-knitted with love
that has kept us together
when we have been apart.

Three separate houses,
three separate towns,
but these three blankets
join three distant hearts.

With their magic magnets
and sprinkles of moon dust,
it was safe to be apart
because the magnets held us together.

But these three blankets
have now become two,
as mine has been folded
and safely put away.

With every squeeze I gave it,
he saw the love being sent
and the love I got in return,
that's when the magnets changed.

He transferred poison instead of love
so he could punish me. If I don't let go
he will pull apart each stitch until
there is nothing left.

So now you will both be safe,
because I am no longer carrying
the blanket that keeps us together.

Three magic blankets
have to become two,
it's my only way
of protecting you.
