Maybe

by Melissa   Jul 16, 2013

Maybe you complement me,
the way some stars appear tossed to the sky like confetti
against a hot, sticky night

I could be your whitest wish,
you, my reason for falling

But no, I cling onto your velvetine embrace
illuminating words that seemingly bounce off you
waiting, waiting, waiting

I think I might let go, dear

I got a little bit ridiculously excited when I saw you posted a new poem, lol.

I love the doubt here in the beginning. The 'maybe' is something we always feel - so much more hopeful than the what-if's we always fear.

Your lines and vocabulary always astound me. They're always so fluid and soft, no matter what tone you try to create. I love this!
