The Change

by Daylight Lucidity   Jul 16, 2013

Months have passed
Scars have multiplied,
Emotional and physical,
My tears unjustified.

I pushed everyone away
For far too long
Blaming myself
For that "dreadful" day.

I couldn't love right,
Fearing I'd hurt someone else
Giving myself to the night
Putting my feelings on a shelf.

Now I don't know what to do
Your reappearance unexpected
Hurt and anger boiling hot
Despising my own pale reflection.

My heart despicable
My trust shattered
Pain resurfacing
Hiding under so much clutter.

Little does anyone know
A change is on the horizon
I turn my cheek to the glow
Glittering like a diamond.

I can't take it anymore
I need to walk away
Your presence I can no longer endure
I am reluctant to embrace the change.

I love this piece because of the emotion. You can't miss it. Every word just screams out and captures my attention. Just wonderful.
