Hollow Point

by Michael D Nalley   Jul 18, 2013

A hunted child among the living
met a hollow point unforgiving
That pierced his frightened heart
as the hunter took his part

I somehow linger on a word
that sounds to me absurd
Uttered at a perfect stranger
trying to avoid the danger

Though his heart no longer beats
While cowards count defeats
His spirit softly slumbers
resurrected by numbers

A hollow point is destructive
Peace of mind is more constructive
I believe God has got the backs
of those who fall between the cracks
