The Lonely Feather

by Jeraun Terre   Jul 18, 2013

A single feather drifting with the wind
alone and secluded from life
torn and beaten down by the burden of love
unable to differentiate from wrong or right

stranded in isolation
smothered by guilt and shame
planted in a corner in total darkness
repeatedly hearing whispers of your name
I'm going through the motions
barely holding on
my eyes cry oceans
I'm alone, I'm a orphaned
trying to resist that familiar scent
with images of your face
screaming at the top of my lungs
heart beating faster than it's normal pace
thoughts of you surround the air
suffocating as if I'm lost in space
comforted by an anguish feeling
with no way to escape this place

I'm out on a limb
a lonely feather just drifting away
shivering from the chilled nights
outcasted by the warmth of day
