Awash.

by Poet on the Piano   Jul 18, 2013

It's simply nerves you say...
but there's still three more summers
where she'll be at home, 95 degrees
short of truth,
with unanswered questions

as the heat escalates
and the faces grow more
curious, demanding.

Pretending to feel impatient ,
forming moods she can hide under
as her real reason for staying inside
crisp, pale sheets is unknown.

Seattle is halfway across the country,
but it swiftly becomes her goal...
to lose herself in a world where
clouds stifle sunlight
and she can begin a new life,

no longer in shadows of disappointment.

She will remain afloat as long as
no one will recognize that the message
in her bottle was never beauty,
only shame.

And the rain will shield her heart
in ways one would never have imagined.

There are occasions when we always long for a new life and at times is best to set distance to whatever is bringing us down while other times things just work out on its own.

But hehe either or a decision needs to be made

I like the title awash, like clean, like wash away something to feel free and in peace.
