Burlesque

by Daylight Lucidity   Jul 22, 2013

Provocative clothing teases the eyes
As they roam over gyrating bodies
Glistening under piercing lights
Upon a stage delightfully dirtied
With lustful dances and enticing
Gestures meant to grasp
The attention of any man or woman
Caught within the intricately woven lace web
Spun by gorgeous women by day and night.
Alluring calls tantalizing as the urge
To watch and enjoy such a performance
Grows deep within the patrons; a powerful surge
Of want budding in their subconscious.
They come back more and more
Laughing and smiling at such exciting things,
Bringing more numbers through a darkened door
As the band plucks and strums their strings
Creating the atmosphere of which they've all become obsessed;
The sea of people entertained by the thought
Of the acts and displays of cunning burlesque.

*my spin on the movie Burlesque*

Great visuals. I enjoyed the movie's soundtrack the most, the storyline, not as much as it's not that original so I'm glad you based this more on the raw, sensual atmosphere.
It's abstract, has a fast pace due to the constant changing of imagery but I think you balanced it well with the tone.

This was neat how you took the prompt off of the movie! I have only see previews of it, never watched it, so I just guessed it's about dancing. But you completely captured an alluring atmosphere that is easy to picture and see this "web" between the men coming to the performance and the women showing their desire through their presence, costumes, etc. You definitely highlighted the "obsession" and how this is a place of gaudiness and lust..... very vivid imagery and well-expressed! This flowed well and I feel like you told a story, a look past those dark doors.

    Keep writing.
