This was a poem that I know many of us here can relate to, there are many addictions and all can control and make life feel like its against you

You used the prompts wisely, and the repetition worked here, you didn't crowd the meaning with over used metaphors or difficult words...this is real.

Revising my comment because my last was rather rushed.

"Spring fever flies through the air,
desperately trying to win the smiles
of those faces that remain in winter." that creates some good imagery for me, of cold faces, coated in frost as spring fever (looking somewhat like the green sprite girl from Fantasia 2000 [http://www.deviantart.com/morelikethis/316212936]) skips past them.

    "The unknown energy of happiness
that blooms with each growing flower,
    collides against the darkness of
    insecurity's icicles that pierce the
shivering skin."- I loooove the verb 'collides' there! (This stanza again makes me think of Fantasia 2000 because of the, almost war, between the cold, barrenness of winter and the happiness and life of spring.

As I said last time, the link back to the first 3 lines with the last 3 lines in the repetition works well, especially in the way that it's partially reversed- spring fever is the subject of the first 3 lines whereas the frozen hearts are the subject of the last 3.

You managed to weave a lot of meaning into the prompts (which I thought were difficult ones!), well done :) xx

I agree this is an interesting poem indeed!! Heres just what I think.

Spring is love/ happiness and winter is the cold feelings we hold inside which I love. Spring time you always feel free and winter you feel alone. Spring wants people to smile because it is a time for happiness. Sometimes it is hard to smile because life is very difficult. I love how you say hearts are trapped in winter addiction. Depression can lead to many problems in life and its cold just like winter. You want to feel safe but there is none when you truly feel alone. Hearts never can truly grow unless they are happy.

I love the combo you bring to the flowers and ice as it shows the two contrasting emotions. Happiness always wants to bloom inside us all but there is always that one thing that brings us down indeed. Dark and light are different in so many ways. All year around hearts will remain happy or sad but we are search for what we want to be. I love the message here. As we have had a bad past it's hard for hearts are hard to grow and so is trust. I love as I said the way you show the two different styles. You say there is always hope but its hard because of the darkness we all have in hearts. That is just what I think. Great write! 5/5
