Stay.

by Noah Richards   Jul 23, 2013

As the rain blends with the tears on my face
I watch as you walk away, our memories shattered
I stand there, my heart has hardened
Realizing that everything we had no longer matters

I thought things had changed
We were finally on the right path
We had gotten over the pain
Over our broken and complexed past

When I came out with the truth
When I poured my heart out to you
It felt as if it were meaningless
As though what I said didn't matter to you

For weeks you were the only thing on my mind
All the memories we shared, what could've been
I wondered if I had just become a memory
If I was just someone you used to know back then

But if I was worthless, then why?
Why would you always come back to me?
Why would you make me feel important?
And after all the things I've done, why have you forgiven me?

The rain hardens, and my mind races
"I have to go now," you said. "It's better for us both."
But I can't bear the fact of you leaving us behind
I just want us to last, I can't let you go

Without thinking, I pick up my feet
I wipe the tears and rain away
I grab you by the arms and kiss you
Then I look in your eyes as I hear myself plead,"Stay."
