Desolate Meadow

by Daylight Lucidity   Jul 26, 2013

Feel the chill of a livid depart
Ravaging a desolate meadow in turn,
Flowers burned by ice
For sanctity it yearns.

Black patches of grass decorate
A once beautiful scene
Invigorating a forlorn heart
Only to lay it to rest with time.

Believe in dreams, that's what we're taught
How can dreams be held high,
If they crush them with each word?
The answers to such questions loom in an onyx sky.

I love the imagery you portray here in this! Its wonderful. I love the first stanza as it brings so very much to life. I love the flowers being burned by ice because the word play there is great. I love yhe sad feel too it. Again I think its depression ravging the meadow. And all you want is to feel normal again which is very difficult.

Oh I forgot to to the vocabulary is great in here too. I love how k think the meadow is your life and you are the flower it has burned. You feel like you were once beautiful or happy and now the scene is ugly and desolate or sad.

The ending is great though. Its so sad to feel hopeless and like you have lost sll of your drwams inside. I love how the reader has to guess who they are? I am unsure but thats what's great about poetry. You write what you feel no matter what. Oh the onyx sky is beautiful too I can imagine everything! 5/5 nominated if I can
