Too many decades, becoming
captive to ourselves,
marooned within a cavern
that was never equipped
with any sails;
as much as we tried to
outline our necessities,
night would restlessly
dispatch our finger
drawings.
Our faith became established
on if we could stay awake
long enough to sip
the coral horizon.
Rescue me, won't you?
Before this lifelessness
casts away our opportunity
to be someone,
heavy metal anchors chaining
down the fruits we still
wish to sow and cherish.
Be my antonym of shipwrecked,
powerless no more, for our legs
will dash at the tiniest wave
and our hearts will voyage out
[no matter the unevenness]
to the beyond.
