The Win

Even the pain
of memory
feels good
to the soldier
in the aftermath's
glow
as the fog of war
blankets the dead.

Wow, such a powerful write in the few words you penned. I can't even imagine the emotions of fighting for our country, being at war, and the effects of living with the memories... I loved the angle you took here, it was not what I was expecting, wanting to remember because death has taken so many.... maybe these were companions? And you would hate to let go of who they were and be numb.

    Keep writing and take care!
