A Time

by TSI25   Aug 1, 2013

There's a time for loneliness
When skies cry and we turn inside
for quiet consolations
saying to everyone who isn't around
but mostly to ourselves
that we're ok
just ok
just to hear a familiar voice over the sound
of burning bridges and bitter rainfall

And if we can feel it in our chest
if we can push the lump from each others throats
and loose our silver tongues
if we might just produce a cure from some
complicated mixture of one part white lies
to two parts truth with a dash of love and vinegar
then we'll know there's a time for anxious sorrow

But when we look through the rain
and at our hands
buried to the hilt under inaction and mediocrity
we might just wonder if maybe
just maybe
there's a time for happiness too

This was a really interesting piece. I enjoyed how it flowed so much I read it out loud over and over again. I really enjoyed this line

"When skies cry and we turn inside
    for quiet consolations"

I don't know what it is about that line, but it is just really nice.

Great job and keep em coming.

Wow, after reading this I read it again, and again and again. Not only does it flow beautifully but it also paints a vivid picture in my mind. The meaning is deep, yet simple to understand. This is definitely my favourite poem on this site so far. It's amazing, honestly. In fact, I was wonderingly if I could use this to recite in our poetry unit at school, I know school hasn't started yet but every year they make us do the same thing haha.

    Odd, odd, odd. . .

    Not the poem

rather that I feel that I have read this before haha may be I read this poem a day ago and I don't remember.

I like the the ending the most. I seriously feel that I have read the tone of voice in this poem before, but I can't put my thoughts where... it's enchanting

Anywho, that doesn't matter. I found the line about

" one part white lies to two parts truth with a dash of love and vinegar" to be the most original of the poem. It really stands out, I also like the ending, I think I mentioned that before. In my opinion, there's a time for everything so that's another part that I like about the poem that I can come up with my own opinions. The image that I got from the poem was interesting one too.
The burning bridges and the bitter rainfall?

Two thoughts jump to my mind, either this someone burnt the bridges... and hopes to hear a familiar voice to reach out to him/her... while the bitter rain falls... in hope for someone to save him/her...

Or the burning bridges and bitter rainfall are used as metaphors for relationship with someone and also for cries.

    Well done

I love the intensity of this, it have some great imaginary moments.

"When skies cry and we turn inside
    for quiet consolations..."

    My favorite part is

"...one part white lies to two parts truth with a dash of love and vinegar"

a great way to put it.
