Shadows

by Love Hurts   Aug 2, 2013

Summer grass swaying in the wind.
A small child's cry floating in the breeze.
Can anyone hear me?
My tormented screams pierce the silent night.
Help me! Help!
Begs a voice from deep inside.
The forest guards my secrets.
Dark, damp and surrounding me.
It won't let you hear my screams.
But still cling tight to that string of hope.
That someday someone will save me.
Even if it means I have to overcome the
shadows placed deep inside me.

Powerful emotions in these lines, with that simple image of you being in the a dark forest at night, no one coming to your rescue or hearing those screams. Those last two lines were beautifully worded, and spoke of the fears/darkness we can overcome, not on our own all the time but it can be conquered. Good poem describing that atmosphere of being lose, abandoned and wanting to just be heard. Well-expressed. Keep writing!
