What I Fear

by William Mae   Aug 4, 2013

What I fear

The first time that I meet you,
I must admit my fears,
That I to you, was made too grand,
In the dreams where I appear.

In thoughts it is so easy to
Hide blemishes out of sight,
With help of love you may have made,
A noble shining knight.

I know true love will overlook,
Things that most can see,
I worry ore the kind of love,
You truly hold for me.

My southern voice may not soothe,
A tender heart refined,
My smile may not be as bright,
As it was in your mind.

My laugh perhaps unpleasant,
Sense of humor not as keen,
Tools eroding your love,
Are fears I have it seems.

My taste for clothes distasteful,
Ongoing doubts you see,
My appearance perhaps unpleasant,
This worries the heart in me.

No guarantees of how you'll feel,
What if my touch is cold,
These thoughts haunt me every day,
In not just mind but soul.

Many things that distance makes,
Two hearts completely miss,
Assurance that realities,
May corrupt by dreams bliss.

My kiss may not ignite a flame,
In truth may quench the fire,
You may find that in my arms,
Will never be desire.

I am everything but perfect,
Never was nor will I be,
So I wonder with you far away,
If you see the faults in me.

If looks or grand appearance,
Becomes the trigger for a spark,
Love may never blossom,
Much less grow in a heart.

I'm not saying its how it is,
Don't look for things not here,
I'm only saying so you know,
It's something that I fear.

Love blossoms when two hearts learn
to accept each other for who they are.
Looks and glamor plays no role when love
    conquers all!

    An interesting write/read. Keep penning!

This stanza sums up the entire idea behind your beautiful poem William.

Blessed are they that love by seeing with only the eyes of the heart.
