Identity Crisis

by Saerelune   Aug 6, 2013

I speak Dutch with a Chinese intonation,
Chinese with a Dutch tongue,
and English with the slur
of both.

On wintry days, my lips taste
of Malaysia, but the only Malay word I know

is pasar malam

and I'm beginning to think
that's where I bought my passport from.

This is an interesting read..although short. I'd really like for you to have taken this further because I think a lot of people could relate to this as the world shrinks and people move around more. We all have an accent and sometimes we wish we didn't because it's what makes us stand out in a foreign country when we really just want to blend in. I figure you kept it short just to get your point across and you definately did.

I like your sarcastic ending..pasar malam..some type of market? probably a dodgy one at that..where you can buy just about anything for a price....nice touch!
