Beast

by Peter   Aug 11, 2013

I'm not like a bud that eventually blossoms,
I dwell as a scavenger much like a possum.
Hidden from the glorious light of the day,
Only to leave my crevice when I spot my prey.
I search for the weak the lonely the hurt,
Only to sweep them down to the dirt.
Darkness is my wholesome cape,
Blinding those of the day so they can't escape.
Allowing them to fall under my paws,
That will rip them apart as I thrust with my jaws.
Left with nothing but the scars,
My victims can't simply put those memories in jars.

Back not long ago I thought nothing of it,
They'll be melting like snow to easy to quit.
I thought that those I broke where just too weak,
That I was much tougher but never a freak.

I know now that I am but a beast,
Prowling the Earth for my next feast.

This one was my favorite from yours, I enjoyed the rhymes. They didn't sound force except in a few lines ,but that didn't stop me from liking it.

    Well done
