Castle on the Hill

by Maple Tree   Aug 11, 2013

It doesn't matter how much cinnamon
I sprinkle in the folds of your smile,
I'll never taste it upon your lips.

For I've imagined a castle upon a hill
where we feast and dine on morsels
of memories, feeling full upon a table
within hand in hand expressions.

If you could understand how sweet
my lips can be when dipped in the
beauty I see before me, then
you could feel the light at the end
of your hunger pains.

Depression has lingered in every crevasse
of your being, lacing freshness with spoiled
crumbs,

crumble before me my love,
I'll dust away the nightmare's
so that we may taste life again.

MT, I found this so beautiful despite the sadness it possess. Love the words you have used to describe the pain and heart-break and the imagery which comes out is amazing.

    Keep writing:)
