Nature v-s nurture

A mother or a mom
makes a difference
when the two are both experienced

i was born from a mom
the same life as all other breathing newborns
but..

i was given a mother not of the same blood
who cared when you were lost in the shadows of NYC

my first period
my first date
my first dance
graduation
college
my first heart break

all experienced with my mother not my mom.
life has given me so much in common with my mother
not even bonded by blood

she took me in when men took you
she represents all nurture

i try to forgive you
but life has its plan and i don't see it in mine
had your chance to be a mother but you chose to stay a mom

a mom gives birth a mother raises
the two are not the same

I've been nurtured by nature
and im the luckiest child of god
