I'm Not Okay... I Promise

by Daylight Lucidity   Aug 18, 2013

I'm okay, really I am.
You just broke and tore me apart,
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
You just took my heart, shattering it like glass
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
No, I only loved you,
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
You just promised you'd always be there,
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
We weren't anything more than a fling,
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
I threw away everything I had to be with you,
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
You just said you wanted me to be yours,
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
I just grew accustomed to your lies,
That's all.

I'm okay, really I am.
Oh wait,
No I'm not.

I love the consistent lines throughout this whole poem and then at the end you bring a twist into it. The sadness again flows from this poem and I love that about your poems you can use the one element so very well. I also love the story in the middle lines. You talk of a love once passed. I think its always good to get it all out in the open like this to full heal and move on if you havnt already. I love as I said the end. You were pretending to be ok but in the end once you find out your true feelings you are not ok with the hurt she brought to your heart. You were tired of it all and you told this person how you felt. You loved them but not anymore. Ty for sharing. 5
