Detached From Hope

by Baby Rainbow   Aug 19, 2013

If you look inside their haunted eyes,
you will see the detachment beginning to
surface as it feeds on their soul
and takes away their remaining hope.

So many victims are losing grip
on a life that has betrayed them with
toxic demons of the past; the demons
that stole their childhood.

Memories plague their brainwashed minds
with painful reminders of what they have lost;

the person that they wanted to be.

But these lonely victims
have suffered torture beyond belief,
and they spend every single day
expecting the next train to crash into their happiness,

because that is all they have ever known.

I have read this piece before, now it's time to make comments, the angle of this piece is really impressive and very well fit on this category. As i read all the lines, this reminds me of a young girl who suffered from violence in their own country whose tears helps them shape a word to speak, a hope in a hopeless world, where no one except those who have a kindred heart makes the difference and offer them relief from their agony...but sad that they are offered temporarily because you cannot be with them for a lifetime. at least the tiny spark of lights may help them create a fire of courage. Beyond your use of those depressing words, you hide the key of courage where it uplifts your spirit to keep holding on...very impressive BR, keep writing

    * Think soul should be souls?

This reminded me of a case that was current in Australia a few years ago when the Christian brothers (a religious organisation) were taken to court over the abuse of little boys left in their care. What came out of that was the fact that people further up the food chain knew about it and turned a blind eye. The worse thing that happened to the offenders was that they were moved to a different location where they just reoffended and it was all covered up. These boys are now in their 40s but...still scarred for life...what a pity that, the one's trusted with a child's care are allowed to abuse them....very sad world we live in.

Its really sad how true this is. We all face so many demons in life. I always am fond of the use of eyes in poems as they can hold so much power inside. Look into their heart and soul and you will see the hurt they have inside. When we have been hurt in the past we lose hope and no one really wants to change that. We can all try if we wanted to but I know its hard. Demons are one thing that are hard to get rid of. We always fight everyday only to lose the fight and sink deeper then we always do. We all want to be happy again but sometimes it seems lost somewhere that we can't reach.

I love the memories line. As they can always be bad or good. Again we all want to be want we want. But when we hurt we masquarade what we are. To fear of being hurt is not strange. We have to protect our hearts. This is all they have ever known I agree with because its true. You bring such a sad issue to light. Depression is one of the hardest things to overcome. I loved the meaning or what I think is the message. We can all change and overcome if we really tried. But its hard when all you know is hurt. 5.
