There once was a girl,
She kept everything inside,
The emotions that killed her,
Were the ones she did her best to hide.
No one saw the pain,
Deep inside her eyes,
They only looked at her smile,
The creases on the sides.
She wasn't beautiful like every other girl,
Her features weren't perfect,
The mirror said she was worthless,
& so she believed it.
Her world was on a downward spiral,
Her mentality increasingly numbing,
She broke more and more,
Even she didn't see what was coming.
The blade came along one day,
It brought her relief,
It made her feel complete again,
Pulsating with warmth and heat.
She got addicted to the feeling,
The red that proved she was alive,
So much so she got addicted,
It kept her from wanting to die.
She felt horrible though,
Seeing the ones she loved feel pain,
But they don't understand,
This is what keeps her sane.
Once everyone found out,
She was forced to get help,
Now she's in recovery,
Trying to save herself.
If no one had noticed,
& no one had cared,
She would have kept hurting herself,
Thanks to the silence of no one there.
She would have cuts all over her body,
Fresh wounds that wish to heal,
Luckily this cycle is over,
It's time for her to find to new ways to feel.
