This poem is one of those that on first glance, although the words are powerful, it does not hit you just how deep it us, until you try and put yourself into this situation and imagine what it would be like.

I found myself thinking of everything in between the lines, about life, about war, wondering if there is an answer, where the answer is. I also found myself thinking that it is kind of nice in a way that people on this site continue to write poems about such events because it shows how it can affect everyone, and also how the poetry can keep memories alive of those who have passed away.

As for the poem itself, I like the cryptic tone of it, which could be taken in a very simple form I guess from some reader's point of view, but for me it seemed to be bluntly honest about how these people fight for us, but end up losing their life in battle. Very honourable and brave people, and this poem, I think, ponders on the aftermath of a death of a marine? Perhaps their relatives thoughts about the family they could have had in the future, or even their own beliefs about what happens after death.

Interesting poem, deep and holds a lot between the wording.
