Frosted Wings

by Daylight Lucidity   Aug 26, 2013

They flutter and attempt to beat in harmony
With a newly awakened heart,
Yet they cannot seem to find footing amongst
Patches of ice left from tragedies now forgotten.

An angel grasping on to the nearest branch of trust
In an otherwise frozen soul,
Leaving fingerprints of warmth which radiate
To the center of a kingdom ruled by an ice queen.

Frosted wings nestle between strong and confident shoulders,
Twitching and aching to unfurl before the eyes of a majesty
Not yet cradled, cherished, adored, by the right suitor.

Entering the realm called her heart is a delicate journey;
Soft, gentle, words caress a glacier-like soul and warm
Parts of a beautifully unique girl that have never been
Cared for properly.

Kneeling before a beauty such as herself,
The frosted-winged angel promises and devotes itself to the girl,
Wings unraveling, cracks of melting ice echo off the walls
Of an otherwise silent room.

She watches warily, though her heart pumps and pounds,
She offers her hand to the angel, allowing an attempt to enter
The most fragile, vulnerable, special part of her;
The frosted wings wrap around her in a soft embrace.

An angel and an ice queen
Ruling side by side,
She happy and full of joy,
Her angel wrapped protectively around
Her delicate frame.
