Maybe It Hurts

by schmetterling   Aug 28, 2013

Don't you see what your words do to me?
The way I get home
& completely break down into tears.
Don't you know how much it hurts?
When I take the blade to my skin
Just to feel a sense of relief.
You don't know
& you don't care enough to.
Maybe you'll understand
When you go to school one day
& there's an announcement on the intercom
Saying that I took my life away
Over words so small
Yet so full of hatred and power.
Maybe then
You would feel the guilt and shame
Rushing over you
Proving that maybe what you did was wrong.
If it gets to that point
If I do get there
I hope you burn in a jail cell
For the rest of your life.
Every single word hurts
Every joke
Every insult
I act like it doesn't
But it kills me
More than you'll ever know.
