Backyard Adventures - Terry-Tu and Hopper (the continuing saga)

Time wandered on
as things settled down
in the garden

and...

- again, I like your layout of the openings and how they follow on so smoothly and remind us briefly of where the story left off.

as I went about
my daily chores,
raking leaves, pulling weeds
and trimming rose bushes
Terry-Tu and Hopper
would squawk and croak
amongst themselves
occasionally drawing me
into the conversation "
with a "Bonjour" or
a shy "Hewwo".

- I found this really funny to imagine someone going about their normal daily life, tending to their garden, but in the company of a parrot and a frog.

Terry-Tu even blew
me a kiss which made me smile,
"Saucy devil...but you are
French after all"...I thought.

- this reminds us of the little French parrot and how cheeky he was in the beginning and how easy it is to fall in love with him. It makes it very easy to imagine him for real and turn him into a character.

Then...

Hopper suddenly burst
into song...

"It's the pirate life for me
out on the open sea"

A strange voice from
the other side of the fence
joined in...

"So happy and so free
sure fills me heart with glee.

"Who could it be?" I thought
as I tentatively opened the
gate to find out.....

- Arrghh, must you do that? Lol. The suspense is always good at the end of any poem, because as human beings, curiosity does get the better of us and we find ourselves becoming impatient to find out what happens next. Reminds me of TV programmes and cliff hangers on films etc.

I love the idea and excitement of a new character joininig in. Each character has their own little ways about them from what you describe to us and they are all unique and interesting.

Enjoyed this, and do feel it could be a cartoon/book very easily.
