Couldn't Save You

by ElegantRose   Aug 31, 2013

Two and a half years,
Have almost passed.
Wish I could change,
The moment that was our last.

Never got to say I love you,
Or a proper goodbye.
I miss you, really miss you,
He doesn't understand why.

I have to conceal my feelings,
My true one's about you.
I'll never forget our last moment,
Or all that you used to do.

And all of the words,
That I've tried to say.
Do they hold any meaning?
As we fade away.

Because the stars keep shinning,
But you're no longer here.
And the sun continues to burn,
As time slowly disappears.

I can't get you back,
Many memories remain.
They hurt though, badly,
Cause heart wrenching pain.

We were always doing something,
Hardly ever apart.
Why couldn't I have saved you?
Before you fell apart.

Because now I'm alone here,
Unsure of what to do.
Oh, I'm so very lost,
Lost here without you.

There is a lot of heart in this poem. I was able to feel your pain and understand enough of your story to share that pain. Beautiful job. Excellent use of technique and skill. The word choice was simple, somehow that worked well for this piece.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sorry for your heartache. We will all relate someday.
