Walks in Autumn

by Daylight Lucidity   Sep 8, 2013

Sidewalks fill with a wide range of colors,
Oranges, reds, and browns bright
Against the cement; they crunch under a foot
As it strolls leisurely down the countryside road at the first hint of night.
The crisp air caresses wind-nipped cheeks softly,
Tangling long, brown hair in a way that makes my heart beat
Fast; her beauty radiating in the fading sun,
And giving my eyes the pleasure of witnessing a goddess' smile.
She walks to the pumpkin patch in which she finds
Myself; I watch as she seems to float over it all,
Her wings tucked neatly to her back, hiding her angelic stature
That pours from the beautiful soul she harbors.
As she stands before me, her smile is grand,
Rendering me speechless, my words lost in her gorgeous eyes,
Making my knees tremble and hard for me to stand.
She pulls me away and starts to walk to the field,
The gravel shifting as we walk, my hand crawling into hers;
The silence between us is amplified by the blue jays and cardinals
Singing a song only they know the words to.
As we walk into the clearing hand-in-hand,
She falls back with the most darling laugh,
Landing in a pile of tall, yellowed grass under a large tree,
Leaving me to lovingly watch this deity.
An apple falls beside her body where it lounges peacefully;
She picks it up and grins at me from where I sit next to her,
She shines and cleans it on her shirt and nibbles on it
As the breeze makes itself known once more.
My hand reaches out to caress her soft cheek,
Fingers lightly trailing down to find her hand again;
Her eyes rest on mine and I am consumed by their depths,
Love for her pooling in my own.
My mind wanders as we stay there, her head laying in my lap;
With each stroke of my hand against her hair,
My thoughts go to her or our future and it is a lovely one.
As time slips away, I murmur that we need to leave
In her ear; she gets up with a stretch and I watch her walk away,
Noticing that as she does,
The leave falls around her, the pumpkins throw their aroma
At her, the wind wraps around her silhouette like a dear friend.
It is then that I know,
My beautiful, incredible goddess,
The love of my life,
Walks in Autumn.
