Blind Eye in a Mad World

by Jessica   Sep 10, 2013

Now I lay me to down to sleep
while soldiers fall and children weep
Safely tucked into my bed
while innocents are left for dead

Devastation all around
as I sleep but safe and sound
into my world of pleasant dreams
oblivious to tortured screams

And as the morning sun will rise
others greet it with surprise
the many horrors they've had to see
now boldly printed back at me.

So on this night before I sleep
I say a prayer for those that weep
while safely tucked into my bed
I pray that you are safe instead

I love it. It contains much truth that we take things for granted while others are crying out for help.
